So I had my program yesterday. It went…well, it was a lot. A lot of personalities. A lot of talking. Just. A. Lot. I don’t think it was a complete loss by any stretch, it was just frustrating to be constantly reminding them to listen to each other and focus. Obviously, this is pretty much part and parcel with working with teens, but they were in rare form yesterday. Still, I think some of them got something out of the program. It was a character creation program geared towards D&D so help them think about making characters that do more than brood in a corner and kill people for money.
Like I said, I think some of them started thinking more deeply about the actual mechanics of a character that follows a hedonistic and nihilistic life, but I also had one teen whose character’s hobby was drawing dead bodies. So. You win some, you lose some.
