Welcome back to Bloomington. Can you tell us about your plans?
I am deeply inspired by the professors at Kelley, and their influence has sparked a passion within me for pursuing similar work. My goal is to work in HR, where I can enhance team cohesion and make a positive impact. Additionally, I aspire to become a professor myself, focusing on research and teaching related to effective leadership and team dynamics.
What brought you to Indiana University the first time?
I was recruited to play volleyball at IU during high school, and after visiting various campuses across the country, it was clear that IU was where I wanted to be. The close-knit Bloomington community and its strong connection to the university made it feel like a second home. Kelley played a significant role in my decision as well. After touring Hodge Hall, meeting the professors and staff, and hearing firsthand experiences from my peers, it became an easy choice to major in business.
After graduating with your bachelor’s, you began a business career. Why did you return for a MS in Management?
- Several key factors brought me back: Navigating transitions: My athletic identify was evolving during my senior year as I transitioned out of college, and I felt uncertain. A pivotal conversation with Professor Richard Ash helped me realize that many of my core values aligned with management concepts. Although Kelley didn’t offer a master’s program in this area at the time, this insight set the stage for my future plans.
- Inaugural MSM cohort: When Kelley announced the launch of the MSM program, it was an experience I did not want to miss.
- Connections and community: My decision to return was also influenced by the strong connections I built within the athletic and academic departments, my affection for the Bloomington lifestyle, and the environment that fosters both personal and academic growth.
- Unmatched resources: Kelley and IU offer an extensive array of resources—from personal career coaches and mentorship to leadership opportunities and vibrant campus activities. This support system makes it an exceptional place to thrive.
