At some point in our professional journeys, many of us ask the same question: What’s next?
Whether you’ve been with one company for years, built deep expertise in a specific role, or recently started wondering if your career path still excites you, you’re not alone. In fact, one of the most common themes I hear from Kelley School of Business alumni is the desire to pivot — to take the skills they’ve developed and apply them in new, broader, or more strategic ways.
That’s why I’m launching the Career Pivot Playbook, a new series designed specifically for Kelley alumni. Each installment will focus on a real career scenario — like making the shift from industry into consulting (or the other way around) — and break it down into:
- The transferable skills you already have
- How to tell your career story so it resonates in a new field
- The action steps to make the transition feel possible and practical
The goal isn’t just to inspire you with what’s possible. It’s to give you a step-by-step playbook you can use to move forward confidently, no matter where you are in your career.
The first playbook will explore how a credit analyst with seven years of experience can position themselves for success in consulting or asset management. From there, we’ll tackle other common transitions our alumni community faces.
I invite you to follow along, share your own pivot stories, and connect with fellow alumni who may be navigating similar questions. Because the truth is: career transitions are easier when you don’t make the journey alone.
Here’s to your next move — and to building a stronger Kelley network together.
