Recognized for his sensitivity and panache, pianist Matthew Gianforte enjoys an active career as a soloist, duo pianist, collaborator, and teacher, having appeared at numerous festivals and artist series, across the U.S. and abroad. A native of Chicago, he received degrees from Catholic University and Indiana University, where his primary teachers were Marilyn Neeley and Karen Shaw. Dr. Gianforte currently serves as Associate Professor at Murray State University in Kentucky. Prior to his position at Murray State, he taught at DePauw University, and at Indiana University where he served in many capacities, including guest teacher for the late Karen Shaw. Dr. Gianforte has been a faculty member of the Piano Academy since 2004, teaching piano as well as coordinating duet classes. He regularly presents master classes and serves as an adjudicator in competitions. His recording of American sonatas for trumpet/piano with Kurt Gorman (available from Apple Music and Spotify) received high praise.
