Artistic Merit Awards
The Piano Academy offers partial artistic merit scholarships to qualified applicants. Academy awards, whether for artistic merit, financial need or a combination of the two, very rarely exceed 40% of total fees.
Artistic Merit Awards (merit-based scholarship)
Merit scholarship decisions are made upon evaluation of the student’s application as a whole—recordings, repertoire list, teacher’s recommendation letter, and student’s letter of request.
Step 1: Use the online registration procedure to create your student record. Tuition payment is not required at this point in the application process. Pay only the $100 registration fee at this time.
Step 2: Upon paying the registration fee, you will receive a confirmation email with a link and instructions on how to upload audition materials. Upload these supplemental materials.
Step 3: Email a letter of request to Dr. Elizabeth Yao. Please address the following points in your letter:
a. List any musical honors and/or special achievements including competitions, but don’t limit yourself to these. Tell us about anything significant you have accomplished in music.
b. List all prizes and scholarships received from musical or educational organizations during the past 2 years. Specify who gave the award, when it was awarded and the amount received.
c. Have you received, or do you plan to apply for, any awards, scholarships, or prizes that are specifically for summer music study, either at Piano Academy or elsewhere? If so, list the source of the funding and the amount received or applied for. If a decision on your application for an award from an outside (non-Piano Academy) source of funding is still pending, please note that.
d. Without financial assistance, can you still attend the Piano Academy? If not, please tell us why not.
e. Include anything else that you would like us to take into consideration.
