for Degree Students:
Summers offers students the opportunity to continue applied lessons with a faculty member as well as take courses offered in other JSoM departments. Enrollment is open to organ majors, minors and secondary students. If you are interested in summer study, contact Janette Fishell to explore what will be offered next summer.
Summer Courses for Non-Degree Students:
The Organ Department of the Jacobs School of Music regrets to announce that, due to planned renovations of our main practice facility (the Music Annex) from May 2024 to fall of 2025, neither our Sacred Music Intensive nor the Jacobs Summer Organ Academy will be offered during the summers of 2024 and 2025. We look forward to their return in 2026.
The Organ Department offers two week-long residential programs for non-degree students. Each is designed to present educational and artistic experiences of the highest order in a collegial setting, offered at an extremely reasonable tuition rate.
The Sacred Music Intensive Course is designed as a continuing education experience for church musicians “of all stages,” aged 18 and older, and has separate tracks for organists, choral conductors and singers, with everyone coming together for the SMI Chorale.
The Jacobs Organ Academy has two tracks, pre-college and collegiate. Pre-college students with a foundation of piano study are eligible even if they have little or no prior experience with organ playing.
