Please join us this Friday – April 17 at Noon – for a discussion with Early Music America’s Special Projects Manager and Jacobs School alumnus, who will discuss current innovative practices in the historical music world in the USA and beyond. David has been one of the amazing talents behind the recent emergence of Early Music America as a forward-looking organization that has embraced digital media with excitement and inspiration.
Fun Fact: While living in Bloomington, David worked as Music Director of WFIU Public Radio!

David Simmons Wood joined Early Music America as Special Projects Manager in September 2015. His duties include managing EMA’s web social presence as well as coordinating many EMA programs. David is a full-time Instructor of Music at Kansas State University’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where he has worked since 2014 directing the early music ensembles and teaching courses in music theory, history, critical listening, and performance practice. Previously, David served as the Music Director for WFIU Public Media and Music Director for First United Church, both in Bloomington, IN.
He holds degrees from Kansas State University (B.M. Voice) and the University of North Texas (M.M. Voice and Choral Conducting). He also studied early music ensemble direction at the Historical Performance Institute at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
