Studio Forza was founded by Jacobs School of Music horn doctoral student Mike Walker and his opera-singing wife Katie Dukes. Their mission is to offer accessible, interdisciplinary arts experiences through expert education and performance in the Bloomington community. Studio Forza’s wide array of services are focused on making art and music more relevant in the lives of their students. Their goal is to engage students in the visual and performing arts, so the students learn to harness personal expression and creativity. The team also hopes to develop an understanding and appreciation for the arts in Bloomington to enhance attendance to all local arts events and performances.
Mike and Katie, along with their gifted team of educators, teach private music lessons for adults and children in violin, guitar, brass, piano, composition and voice. They also offer an ever-growing assortment of group classes that currently include a music history course for adults and a jewelry-making party that is scheduled by appointment. All classes and lessons are done in the comfort of the students’ homes, which creates a comfortable and casual learning environment. Studio Forza has also launched a performance series, “Savory Sounds,” where they pair live musical performances with brilliantly prepared food. The first of this series will be a Sunday Brunch event in May at Oliver Winery. View Studio Forza’s event page for more details.
