SOUNDTRACK OF THE WEEK #21 – Stonefly (Music by Natureboy Flako)
The original soundtrack for Stonefly is a hidden gem that became a personal favorite of mine instantly. It’s one of those soundtracks that I discovered before ever hearing about the game beforehand, but the music made it impossible to not become interested. The amount of music may seem relatively short, but it is packed with incredibly crisp sound production and a deliciously blended sound palette. Natureboy Flako manages to create a beautiful world of sound that captures both the sci-fi and natural aspects of the game’s scenarios. I’m constantly blown away by how unique the synth timbres are and how they are meshed with more realistic, wood-like sounds for a soundtrack that is both atmospheric and infectiously groovey. (I’d highly recommend listening through the whole album on headphones or high-quality speakers.) Then, after you’ve fallen in love with the music, go play this wonderful title!

Game Summary:
“Harness the wind and soar through the wilderness of Stonefly, a chill and tranquil action-adventure game about self-discovery, legacy, and belonging. Glide your mech strategically among beautiful flora and dangerous fauna, confronting hungry bugs, adventures, and memorable characters.
Go on missions through tree canopies, marshes and prickly briars in the world’s undiscovered naturescapes.
• Take on a variety of bug types to harvest minerals, then use them to craft specialized mech parts to match your play style.
• Forge relationships with a cast of memorable characters from the Acorn Corps, a band of castaway mech pilots.
• Richly stylized art, equally inspired by mid-century modern design and the natural world.”
