Wind Ensemble Reading/Recording Sessions

Indiana University Composers:

The band department offers the opportunity to have works or excerpts of works-in-progress read by the band department.  In addition to considering completed pieces, a session may be used to read partial works.  If you have an interest in composing for wind ensemble (highly recommended), consider writing a short passage and orchestrating it multiple ways, or submit portions of a work, using this opportunity to better prepare for completing a work for band.

Instrumentation:  standard wind ensemble (speak to your teacher).  five percussionists, max.  harp and piano are possible.  contrabass is not provided (unless the composer recruits someone).

Recording:  Composers should bring in their own recording devices.

Submission:  Speak to your composition teacher about the current approach to this.

Eligibility:  all composition majors, minors, and Outside Area students.
