University Singers, Betsy Burleigh, Conductor

University Singers will be offered in both semesters of the 2022–23 school year!

Audition: Required

Founded over 60 years ago and the longest running choral ensemble in the Jacobs School, the University Singers consists of 32 exceptional singing musicians.  The ensemble is known for vibrant and engaging performances of repertoire in widely ranging languages and styles from Renaissance madrigals through chamber music of the 20th century.  University Singers performances vary in presentation too, including not just the traditional concert but multi-media events as well.  Most recently their concert titled “Under the Influence” featured projections of Impressionist paintings along with readings and the music of composers inspired by three powerful and colorful “salonistas” of La Belle Époque.

The University Singers is committed to featuring soloists auditioned from within the group, and alumni have gone on to illustrious careers in opera, oratorio, academia and on the podium.  Excellent music reading, ensemble, and language skills are expected.
