The Jacobs Composition Academy New Workshop in Composition, run by American composer Han Lash, is a composition workshop designed for female, BIPOC, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming composition students of all ages. The aim of this workshop is to address the long-standing imbalances in the field of composition by actively encouraging and providing mentorship and training for students belonging to underrepresented groups. The focus of the workshop varies from session to session, with emphasis placed on technical skills aimed to allow students the broadest possible range of stylistic and aesthetic choice. Music and composition will be considered from a holistic standpoint, and students interested in any style of composition are welcome to apply.
