Now that the library instruction sessions have slowed down, Misti and I have wrapped up our internships by having conversations about the best way to stay informed as library educators. We have talked about the importance of attending conferences such as the Music Library Association Conference, ACRL, and LOEX.
In addition, we talked about how to prepare for tenure-reviews once I have secured an academic job. According to Misti, organization is the key. She suggests creating a google folder with subfolders for every category in which you will be evaluated. Then, it is imperative to upload all of the relevant documents as soon as you have them.
This internship has been very helpful in preparing me to become an instructional librarian. I have also really appreciated all the effort that Misti has put in to help me with preparation for applying for jobs and for being successful when I get my first job.
