It goes without saying that a good night’s sleep is an important component to a person’s overall health, but what many people do not consider is the technology, the research, and the studies that go into knowing how to approach providing an individual the perfect night’s sleep. The various studies and research that are behind the latest and greatest in sleep technology indicate that there are three main disruptions to a good night’s sleep: temperature, motion transfer, and back support.
When we are too cold or too hot, we tend to wake up in the night, and the same can be (and is often) said about motion transfer and back support. Nobody likes an uncomfortable mattress, and nobody likes being woken up by the shifts in sleep in their partner or whoever they happen to be sharing the bed with. But why is this all so important?
Why the disruptions are important to understand
In short, any disruption to an individual’s sleeping pattern is negative (especially over time), but these three main sleep disruptions are obviously the three most common occurrences in sleep pattern fracturing. When you understand these disruptions, you can better approach your sleeping pattern and figure out the best course of action to help you avoid those fractures as much as possible (ideally, completely).
Why the sleep technology is important
Current findings in sleep technology indicate that it all comes down to the perfect mattress. While this is general common sense, there is far more to the perfect mattress than meets the eye, or than most people even realise. Every mattress manufacturer out there is fighting to be the best, and so mattresses are coming out on the market that combat the heat, that provide ample back support, and that do not react to the movement on the opposite side. The ideal mattress, of course has all three. But surely that must be an expensive mattress?
Why knowing the mattress market is important
Wrong. These days, cheap mattresses are not always the worst mattresses on the market. Despite what some of the more expensive mattress brands would want you to believe, the perfect mattress does not have to cost the most. And this is why it is so important to do the research – both online and in store. Researching online gives you a general idea of your preferred mattress, and then actually going into stores and laying on the mattresses will either put the proof in the pudding, or steer you towards a more suitable mattress.
At the end of the day, remember that above all else, the right mattress is about finding what is most comfortable for you specifically – price tag does not solely adhere to the quality. Being meticulous about the research (again, both online and in store) is always key. You spend roughly a third of your life sleeping, so you must get it right, right? Do the research, and think of yourself when you do so, not what the rest of the world says.
