The OEC panel series explores the role of today’s scientists and engineers in helping the U.S. address current urgencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
The topic of the panel discussion was Ethics of Challenge Studies, Avalanche Testing, and Other Approaches to Vaccine Development, the second of a three-part series on Engineering Solutions for the Next Pandemic: Exploring Ethics Concerns.
Dean Allison was joined on the panel by Dr. Peter Schwartz, an Associate Professor of Medicine at the IU School of Medicine and the Director of the IU Center for Bioethics.
In addition, Dr. Stanley Spinola, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the IU School of Medicine, contributed in the Q&A segment of the panel discussion.
