The Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has elected Dr. James Klaunig, a professor at the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, to the prestigious rank and lifetime honor of AAAS Fellow.

In a tradition stretching back to 1874, the Council elects members each year whose “efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished.”
Klaunig will be honored at the Fellows induction ceremony on February 15, 2020, in Seattle.
The AAAS is the world’s largest multidisciplinary scientific society and a leading publisher of cutting-edge research through its Science family of journals. The mission of the AAAS is to “advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people.”
