Samantha Green and Kate Uchal, two undergraduate students from the IU School of Public Health-Bloomington, have won the People’s Choice Award at the 6th annual Women’s Research Poster Competition organized by the IU Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWiT).
For the People’s Choice Award, all the participating individuals and audience at the event were invited to vote for the best poster across both undergraduate and graduate levels, and across all the categories (Health & Behavioral Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Technology & Computing Sciences). Out of more than 70 participating teams, Green and Uchal received the most votes.
The title of Green and Uchal’s poster is “Effects of Parental Practices during High School on Subsequent Smartphone Dependency in College”. Their work is part of a larger study in Dr. Angela Chow’s research lab. Both Green and Uchal are Human Development and Family Studies majors in the Applied Health Department.
