To more accurately reflect its current curricula and faculty research, the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington is updating the name of its Department of Environmental Health to the Department of Environmental & Occupational Health. The change officially takes place on July 1.
The school offers undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental and occupational health. In addition, several faculty members and students are actively engaged in occupational health research in Indiana as well as in Ecuador, Bangladesh, Egypt, Libya, and other countries.
“Occupational health is really a specialized subset of environmental health,” explains Professor and incoming Interim Department Chair M. Margaret “Meg” Weigel. “As faculty and researchers in these fields, we’re committed to understanding how occupational and environmental risks impact health and wellbeing, and identifying interventions to mitigate these.”
The IU School of Public Health-Bloomington offers a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree in Environmental Health.
