Are you, or do you know a current Indiana University South Bend student who wants to explore and share South Bend’s powerful history of civil rights? The IU South Bend Civil Rights Heritage Center is looking for a Student Professional to help us share the story of the former Engman Natatorium, a site of both segregation and local activism.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Lead guided tours for visitors that explains South Bend’s unique history of civil rights activism.
- Assist with archival work, including organizing photographs and documents, and transcribing oral history interviews of local elders.
- Support the Center’s mission while developing skills in areas like archiving, community engagement, and historic interpretation.
Here’s what you’ll earn and when you’ll work:
- We provide $15/hour.
- In-person, 8-12 hours per week, on a regular and mutually agreed upon schedule during our public hours (Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10am to 2pm, Tuesday, Thursday from 3pm to 7pm.)
