Description: This course emphasizes the development of interpersonal communication skills within a small group context, where students will practice observation, active listening, self-disclosure, and feedback, particularly in relation to teaching. Students are assigned to public school classrooms across diverse urban, suburban, and rural settings, allowing them to observe and analyze the similarities and differences in these environments. The course also explores the influence of socioeconomics and multicultural diversity on the classroom experience over a 30-hour field placement, integrating these insights into the application of interpersonal communication and classroom management techniques.
