Motivations and Impact:
“Ideally, the community-engaged grant writing course I envision will be a transformative experience that allows students to recognize their political power and voice in shaping social issues in their community. However, even if the ideal should not come to fruition, at minimum, students will engage in a transactional learning experience that emphasizes how intellectual labor can satisfy community need. Further, community organizations and the community at large will experience long-term impact in the form of the ability to supplement resources, staff, and financing through any student-written grants that receive funding.”
