“I chose employment at a regional campus of a public university precisely for its connection to and impact on the community. An integral component to teaching language is to foster cross-cultural competency. I believe that student engagement within our diverse community is a valuable first step into wider arenas of interaction. Our students have access to international service-learning opportunities and an increasing number of our students are taking advantage of them. I am grateful to be part of the process to build a sense of global citizenry within the students of IU South Bend.”
