Motivations and Impact:
“Community-engaged work is essential as it allows us professional and personal opportunities to connect with the needs of the community. As a faculty member, the courses I teach have a great deal of emphasis on community engagement in order to support students’ efforts to reach outside of themselves and use their time, treasure, and talents to support the needs of the community. In healthcare, this is essential in order to stay grounded and rounded in the”why” of what we do. As a practicing healthcare provider, community-engagement allows me the opportunity to serve my community by providing resources to keep individuals, mostly youth, safe and flourishing.”
