After a long hiatus involving cross-country moves and someone starting her doctoral program (Janice Lindstrom), Music Therapy Journal Club is back! We have new recording technology and a new hosting platform that we hope will get you engaged in the music therapy journals along with us.
MTJC was born from the curiosity and tenacity of Janice Lindstrom. Janice started the Music Therapy Show about 223 episodes ago as a way to get the word out about music therapy.Janice had always envisioned having a local group of music therapists get together to talk about the latest journals, but it just didn’t happen. After first meeting via Twitter and then at a national music therapy conference, Janice invited Meganne Masko to be a part of the show to talk about the music therapy journals.
Why Journal Club? Because music therapists are lifelong learners. One of the best ways we can learn about advances in our field is by reading the journals that are delivered to our doors as part of our memberships in the American Music Therapy Association.
Why Janice and Meganne? Janice is an outstanding clinician who is always thinking about ways to improve the services she provides. She knows that research can have a powerful impact of how we serve our clients and patients. Meganne is the resident research expert who has a knack for explaining technical aspects of the research which may help others understand how these studies translate to clinical practice.
The first meeting of Journal Club in our new virtual space is scheduled for October 31 at 1pm Eastern/ 12pm Central time. We will be discussing the Summer 2017 Journal of Music Therapy. You can connect with us and join in the discussion by joining our Zoom meeting via computer or telephone:
