Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie was the keynote speaker at the Bloomington Economic Development Corp.’s annual meeting, which took place Wednesday at the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention Center.
McRobbie discussed the progress being made on achieving priorities identified within the university’s Bicentennial Strategic Plan, as well as the importance that partnerships between IU, the Bloomington EDC and other organizations play in achieving such goals. Those initiatives are focused on student success and the value of an IU education; research and scholarly excellence; and the university’s role as an economic powerhouse statewide.
“Central to that work are the university’s strong partnerships with the city of Bloomington and organizations such as BEDC, which has consistently offered steadfast support for IU’s mission and created a welcoming climate for success for which we are deeply appreciative.”

On Friday, McRobbie will travel to the IU East campus in Richmond as part of a statewide tour to strengthen ties with local officials and IU’s campus communities. That evening, he will serve as keynote speaker at the Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner.
