As hinted in late July, several changes have been made to our Innovate Indiana blog to optimize ease-of-use — particularly on mobile devices.
Now renamed Crimson Catalyst, the design — unveiled Aug. 1 — includes a clearer font combined with additional white space and a stronger emphasis on imagery that makes content readily viewed on smart phones and tablets as well as laptop and desktop computers. Our blog’s new name pays homage to Indiana University’s primary colors – crimson and cream – and signifies the “spark” or “impetus” that ignites innovation.
Additional features include a revised search tool that enables users to find previous posts by key words, plus boxes that allow archive searches by year and through one of 13 basic categories. Posts that pertain to persons, institutions and topics prominently mentioned in the blog can be tracked through a “tag box” as well.
Biographical information on key contributors to Crimson Catalyst is available in an “About the Authors” box. The blog also contains multiple “buttons” that direct users to the main Innovate Indiana website, as well as invite them to subscribe to Innovate Indiana newsletters, its Twitter and LinkedIn accounts and other many blogs from the IU Newsroom.
In the weeks, months and years to come, Crimson Catalyst will continue to bring readers news of innovation, technology transfer and commercialization and economic enhancement within the Innovate Indiana universe. In addition, it will feature guest posts, articles and commentary from Innovate Indiana’s executive team, as well as key figures in ingenuity, entrepreneurship and economic development at IU campuses statewide.
Our overall goal is simple. We aim to help the Hoosier State generate long-term prosperity by fostering and developing a culture of building and making.
We hope you enjoy our new format as Crimson Catalyst continues a six-year journey as the primary voice of Innovate Indiana.
