Congratulations to David Gard and Amy Conrad Warner.
The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities has named Gard and Warner to the inaugural executive committee of the Commission on Economic and Community Engagement. Gard is assistant vice president for economic engagement at Indiana University; Warner is vice chancellor for community engagement at IUPUI.
The commission convenes university leaders who contribute to their institutions’ economic and community engagement agendas. Its duties include recognizing model engagement programs, supporting commission members in improving engagement practices, engaging members in dialogue about contributing factors to success engagement and developing a shared voice about how engagement efforts impact the missions of APLU institutions.
“For both IU and IUPUI to be represented in leadership on this new, national higher-education organization speaks volumes about the institutions’ commitment to engaging in the well-being of Indiana’s economy and its communities,” Gard said.
Indiana University has been designated by APLU as an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University for the past five years.
