A look back at several key economic development and engagement initiatives carried out by IU throughout 2016 will be the focus of the year’s final Council for Regional Engagement and Economic Development (CREED) meeting set for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at IUPUI’s University Hall.
Activities under review include the Steward of Place program at IU Kokomo and the B-Start program involving IU and the Bloomington Economic Development Corp. Both programs — along with IUPUI’s Discovery, Innovation and Ventures Enterprise (DIVE) program — were finalists at the University Economic Development Association’s recent annual Awards of Excellence meeting in Roanoke, Va.
Other reviews will feature the Big Goal Collaborative Education Summit at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne and the recent completion of “McRobbie on the Move,” a statewide tour of all IU campuses and educational centers by IU President Michael A. McRobbie.
The council also will hear briefings from IU Real Estate Director Jason Banach on the university’s “quiet” impact on local economies, as well as statewide engagement activities by the Herron School of Art from its dean, Valerie Eickmier.
Three applications for CREED’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Fund also will be considered, along with potential locations for council meetings in 2017. Wednesday’s meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 3 p.m.
