Through a licensing agreement with the Indiana University Research and Technology Corp., Seattle-based Cyrus Biotechnology will incorporate SparksX — a molecular modeling-and-design software package developed by Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing researchers — into its product pipeline.
Based on numerous scientific assessments, SparksX offers scientists a “uniquely powerful tool” to recognize protein folds and identify “deep” — or difficult-to-detect — protein sequence similarity, also known as homology.
Cyrus will initially bring SparksX to market through its cloud-based platform, Cyrus Bench, where Cyrus will combine SparksX’s abilities with the Rosetta software package, which was developed at the University of Washington and also is licensed to Cyrus. Over time, the product is expected to pave the way for accelerated drug development and quicker deployment of new medicines to market.
