Earlier this month, construction began on Indiana University East’s fifth campus building — a $4.7 million Student Events and Activities Center.
With completion expected by fall 2016, the center — a multipurpose addition to Springwood Hall — will host a variety of events whose focus ranges from health and wellness and physical education to athletics, student activities and special events. Since 2007, enrollment at the Richmond campus has nearly doubled to more than 4,500 students.
“We are very excited to see construction begin. This building is symbolic of our campus’ continued growth and it will create many new engagement opportunities for our students and community,” IU East Chancellor Kathy Cruz-Uribe said.
