A pilot grant program for translational research established in February by the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship in Biotechnology (JCEB) recently made its first awards totaling $104,230 to five IU Bloomington professors.
The program provides funds to help researchers complete proof-of-concept projects that carry the potential to translate technology from laboratories to commercial use — usually through collaboration with industry partners, establishing new companies or strengthening patent applications based on discoveries at IU Bloomington.
“Going forward this program will be a major component of our efforts to boost innovation and entrepreneurship at IU Bloomington.”
— JCEB Director Keith R. Davis
The Johnson Center plans to accept applications for the next round of grants in February 2016, with a submission deadline of April 1 and recipients funded by June 1.
