IT Professionals:
Today, the following mailings were sent directly to Sitehost and Pages owners and contacts, informing them of the upcoming retirement of slash tilde URL redirects beginning Tuesday, July 20. Owners and contacts are encouraged to check your pages for any links to tilde URLs on IU websites and update them before July 20. Also check that tilde URLs are no longer being used in communications or advertisements.
An impact list containing websites that have been recently accessed via the tilde redirect will be made available in the near future via another ITCP mailing.

Greetings Pages account owners,
Beginning Tuesday, July 20, tilde URLs (e.g., pages.iu.edu/~username) on Pages will no longer be automatically redirected to their username.pages.iu.edu equivalent. Instead, tilde URLs will be redirected to a 404 error page.
Pages was migrated to new servers in 2020. As announced with the migration, tilde URLs are not supported in the new environment. To aid in the transition, a temporary translation service was put in place to redirect tilde requests.
If you have scripts, includes, or embeds that reference a tilde URL, they will not work as expected after this change takes effect. Please check your pages for any links to tilde URLs on IU websites and update them before July 20. Also check that tilde URLs are no longer being used in communications or advertisements.

Greetings IU Sitehost owners and contacts,
Beginning Tuesday, July 20, tilde URLs (e.g., www.iu.edu/~username) on Sitehost will no longer be automatically redirected to their username.sitehost.iu.edu equivalent (or virtual host, if applicable). Instead, tilde URLs will be redirected to a 404 error page.
Webserve was migrated to Sitehost between Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. As announced with the migration, tilde URLs are not supported in the Sitehost environment. To aid the transition from Webserve to Sitehost, a temporary translation service was put in place for one year to redirect tilde requests to Sitehost.
If you have scripts, includes, or embeds (such as MachForm) that reference a tilde URL, they will not work as expected after this change takes effect. Please check your pages for any links to tilde URLs on IU websites and update them before July 20. Also check that tilde URLs are no longer being used in communications or advertisements.
For more information and additional resources, such as how to scan for tilde URLs on your account, find backlinks, update MachForm and Wordpress, please see About the tilde URL retirement on Sitehost.
