Dear IT pro colleagues,
Beginning August 3rd, we will activate a compliance process within IT People through the Application Security and Quality Assurance team that will check for and notify IT pros whose Acceptable Use Agreement (UA) and FERPA compliance requires renewal. If compliance is not met, tool access granted through IT People, will be revoked.
IT unit members who are out of compliance will receive three reminders of their compliance status. If the member remains out of compliance after three notifications, their IT Unit lead will be notified (through the following communication) of their IT member’s status and IT People tool revocation:
You are receiving this message because a member of an IT unit you lead has fallen out of FERPA compliance and had tool access, granted through IT People, revoked.
To ensure our faculty and staff understand their responsibilities in safeguarding student data, Indiana University has created training and certification for FERPA. Compliance certification is required to be renewed every two years. Additionally, all IU employees, affiliates and students must have an Acceptable Use Agreement signed.
Please have [name] go to the https://ferpa.iu.edu to complete FERPA training and to https://access.iu.edu/useragreement/hasagreement to verify their Use Agreement is in place.
Once they have completed these two certifications, you, as IT unit Lead may reassign their tools.
