IT Professionals:
News of the August 1 rollout of Duo Verified Push (to all staff employees) will be communicated to all staff on July 18. Staff are referred to the Support Center or their IT Pros if they have questions.
The KB article on Use Two-Step Login (Duo) is continuing to be updated during this rollout, with instructions to use Duo Verified Push or the alternatives that are available: security key, hardware token, Duo Mobile passcode, or Touch ID. These alternatives do not require an exemption request for Duo Verified Push.
Clients using text messages or phone calls to log in with Duo do not need to apply for exemption from Duo Verified Push either. They will remain unaffected.
Action may be needed
Clients unable to use either Duo Verified Push or the alternatives above will need the Support Center or their IT Pros to submit an exemption form on their behalf. The exemption form will be available in late July. Until that time, if a client requests an exception, send their information to uiso@iu.edu; UISO will add them to the exception group in batches. Acceptable reasons for an exemption include:
- Owning a device that cannot be updated to support Duo Verified Push
- Accessibility accommodations
When addressing inquiries, it is preferable to help clients update their phone (if needed) or try the above alternatives if possible, before applying for exemption. Duo Verified Push requires:
- Duo mobile version 4.16.0 or later on Android 8 or later
- Duo mobile version 4.17.0 or later on iOS 13 or later
This rollout affects all full-time staff on August 1. Faculty, hourly staff without benefits, and students are not affected.
