IT Professionals:
As part of the migration from Skype for Business to Teams Calls, UITS is moving all CCX-500 phones from private IP addresses to public IP addresses on April 4. This change will require that we migrate about 800 accounts, including affected individual accounts, groups accounts, response groups and IP phones, from Skype to Teams.
How this will impact you as an IT Pro:
- Clients’ Polycom CCX-500 desk phones will have a software upgrade on April 4 after 5pm ET. These phones will not be compatible with Skype for Business after this upgrade.
- Accounts for clients using the Polycom CCX-500 will migrate from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams to ensure their ability to receive calls on their IP phone. The migration will occur after 5pm ET on April 4.
- After both upgrades, on the morning of April 5, clients will need to log-in to the device, using the instructions below to configure their IP phones for use with Microsoft Teams. An email with instructions for configuring the devices after the upgrade will be sent to affected clients.
- Extra step for common area phones: After the upgrade, all CCX-500 common area phones will need to have a verification code entered on the device display. This code will allow for remote configuration from the Teams administrators. This process is not required for individuals’ IP phones, just common area phones. The impact list above can be filtered to view your common area phones. If any of your CCX-500 devices are not on this list, please contact CPI using our fireform at Teams Phone Questions.
Instructions for entering verification code:
- On the upgraded CCX-500, select the gear in the top right-hand corner of the display.
- Select # Provision device.
- Enter the provided 6-digit verification code and select next. This code will be provided on April 4 as it is only active for 24 hours. The IT Pro(s) with the common area phone assigned to their department will receive the code.
- The device should say “Device provisioned successfully”
Instructions for end-users to configure their IP Phone for Microsoft Teams:
- On your IP phone, select REFRESH CODE.
- In your computer’s browser, go to Microsoft’s device login. Enter the code displayed on the IP phone screen.
- Select your account, and then choose continue on the “Authentication Broker” window.
- Close the window, and your IP phone will open to the Home screen.
