Canvas Maintenance and Updates – December 17 and 20

IT Professionals,

On Saturday, December 17, between 8am and 12pm ET, Instructure (Canvas) will be performing a regularly scheduled monthly release to the IU Canvas instance. Canvas will remain available during the maintenance window. Included in this release are:

• Updated Features:
• • Grades: Student Feedback visibility update
  • Permissions: Manage Course Content Granularity

• Feature Options:

• • New RCE in New Quizzes
  • Blueprint courses support New Quiz locking
  • Allow Clearing Selection of Multiple Choice Question Answers
  • Fill in the Blank with Multiple Word Bank Improvements

• Pages: Schedule Page Publication Default Status Update

• • Note the Schedule Page Publication feature has been enabled in production since the October update

• Inbox: Improved Inbox Functionality

In addition, on Tuesday, December 20, Canvas Administrators will be making several updates to external tools. Canvas will remain available during the maintenance window. Included in these updates are:

• Kaltura – Upgrade from LTI v1.1 to LTI v1.3

• • My Media is now located in the Global Navigation for all users.
  • Media Gallery will default as an enabled Tool in all courses
  • Existing Media will be in new Media Gallery

• LinkedIn Learning – Upgrade from LTI v1.1 to LTI v1.3
• Anthology Ally – released to all courses
