On July 12, approximately 6,000 accounts were contacted with the message below by the IT Communications Office. This group of accounts are those who currently only have a device with telephony or SMS text messaging for Two-Step Login (Duo). These users have been granted an automatic exemption to allow them to prepare for the upcoming academic year uninterrupted. A list of all impacted accounts is available here: No Device Impact

Hello,
You received the below message warning you to take action immediately to prevent losing access to your accounts when the new Duo Universal Prompt is implemented and Duo “Call Me” or SMS (text) is eliminated on July 12.
The Duo Universal Prompt visual update is still occurring, but administrators are implementing a temporary exemption that will allow you to continue to use Duo “Call Me” or SMS. This is to allow you to prepare for the upcoming academic year uninterrupted. We strongly encourage you to take this additional time to prepare yourself by adding a Duo compatible token, smartphone, or other device as indicated in the earlier email, copied below.

Because you use the “Call Me” or SMS (text) options for Two-Step Login (Duo), you should be aware that these functions will be discontinued tomorrow, July 12, 2022, with Duo’s change to the more secure and simpler Duo Universal Prompt.
You can disregard this notice if you have already taken action.
You can make the switch easily and at no cost to you by completing one of the following actions:
Download and set up Duo Mobile on your device(s)
Use a single button hardware token —get one from your campus Support Center at one of their walk-in locations.
Fill out an exemption request
