On Monday, December 2 at 8am ET, University Endpoint Management Services will be making a build change to the IU Common Build for macOS, enabling the Jamf Onboarding feature. This change will assist with ease of macOS device builds and future maintenance.
Jamf Onboarding is a built-in Jamf feature that allows for an automated installation of all standard IU software with the first launch of IU Self Service. It will give the client a graphical interface of what step the installation is on, and will indicate if there are any failures during the installation process.
Potential impact:
If a device has not checked in for the last 60 days, it is unlikely to have gotten the policy to exempt it from going into onboarding. After December 2, if those devices begin to check in, they will go through the onboarding installation the next time IU Self Service is opened.
For site administrators:
Those with site access to ADM01 can create an impact list by creating a saved search looking for devices with the profile:
Global – Disable Onboarding installed or Onboarding Complete labeled as Complete
Devices that have not checked in for more than 60 days will also likely be impacted.
