Announcements
The recording of the coffee hours by Endpoint Management Services, originally presented on October 4, 2024, is now live.
Unizin will be conducting maintenance on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, 5-7am ET and Wednesday, October 16, 2024, 1-3pm ET to perform mandatory upgrades to the CloudSQL network architecture affecting production, SIT, and UAT environments. In addition, on Saturday, October 19, between 8am and 12pm EST, Instructure (Canvas) will be performing a regularly scheduled monthly release in the IU Canvas instance. There is no downtime expected for this maintenance. Additional details at above ITCP Blog link.

EdCert course – Microsoft Azure Administrator

This course teaches how to manage Azure subscriptions, secure identities, administer the infrastructure, configure virtual networking, connect Azure and on-premises sites, manage network traffic, implement storage solutions, create and scale virtual machines, implement web apps and containers, back up and share data, and monitor your solution. This course assists in the preparation for the Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ-104 certification exam.

IT Leadership Community Diversity and Inclusion Action Team workshop – Supporting international staff: The immigrant experience
1-2pm ET
In this session, we will provide essential information on hiring international staff, covering topics such as Optional Practical Training for F-1 students, the H-1B visa, and the permanent residency process. We will also explore the challenges international staff face, including timeline constraints, issues related to their dependents, and the limitations on growth opportunities while they are on visa status.
Whether you are a current student, full-time international staff member, or leader, these discussions are designed to help you understand the process and promote greater equity for international employees. Supercomputing For Everyone Series: Quantum Computing
10am-2pm ET

This workshop provides a brief overview of quantum computing. A description of what it can and cannot do will be presented. Topics to be discussed include changes quantum computing will make to the non-quantum, general HPC community, and why a disparate collection of large corporations are investing huge sums of money into a product which, as yet, has delivered no return. Also included will be a description of competing hardware and a simple, hands-on quantum programming exercise to be run on a quantum computer emulator. Endpoint Management Services – coffee hours: Windows Common Build
3-4pm ET
Endpoint Management Services (EMS) invites you to bi-weekly, one-hour Microsoft Teams coffee hours to discuss and field questions about the IU Common Build and IU Print. This session is focused on Windows Common Build. This will be followed in two weeks with a session focused on IU Print, then two weeks later on macOS Common Build. These session topics will continue to rotate every two weeks for the next several months to give you the opportunity to become more informed about these services and to ask questions.

Supercomputing For Everyone Series: New Features in IU REDCap

This session will explore the new features that will result from upgrades to IU REDCap on October 27, 2024. REDCap is a self-managed, secure, web-based platform designed to support data collection and data management for research, operations support, and quality improvement projects. REDCap’s easy-to-use, intuitive features allow you to rapidly build and manage secure online surveys and databases. Supercomputing For Everyone Series: Introduction to Deep Learning

This workshop introduces IU students, faculty, and staff to Deep Learning on the Big Red 200 supercomputer. Attendees will learn to create their first NeuralNet, RandomForest, and function optimizer with the Deep Learning software stack on Big Red 200. Detailed examples with documented code will be provided and discussed. No prior knowledge of these techniques is assumed. Knowledge of Unix and Python is needed for the hands-on exercises.
