IT colleagues,
On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Campus Networks is planning to update the security certificates for eduroam, IU Secure, and IU HSN Secure.
Following the update, the first time devices try to connect to the network, users may be prompted to accept (or install) the new certificate. If the user accepts the certificate (usually a single click is all that is necessary), the connection will proceed as usual, and no further actions will be needed. Specifics about how users will be prompted and how they can accept/install the new cert will differ depending on device type, OS, and installed software. No action is required for clients previously onboarded via the SecureW2 wizard.
If users do not accept the new certificate, the connection will fail. Subsequent attempts to connect will also fail until the new certificate is accepted. Additionally, most devices will not prompt the user to accept the cert again, so they will need to understand the issue and take action to install the new certificate before they will be able to connect with that device.
In most cases, simply removing eduroam/IU Secure/IU HSN Secure from the list of recognized networks (aka “forget this network”) and then re-configuring the connection (and accepting/installing the certificate during that process) will be sufficient to obtain the new certificate and restore connectivity.
If you have questions about the update or encounter unresolvable issues connecting after the update, please contact Tier 2 Support at sct2@iu.edu.
