IT Leadership Community Speaker Series – Unlocking the power of presentation: mastering the art of influence, confidence, and presenting with purpose!

In this presentation by Cathy Williams, we will explore the fundamental principles and strategies for delivering effective presentations, whether in one-on-one interactions or group settings. We discuss the importance of thorough preparation, including understanding your audience, defining clear objectives, and structuring your content for maximum impact. Supercomputing For Everyone Series: Quantum Computing

This workshop provides a brief overview of Quantum Computing. A description of what it can and cannot do will be presented. Topics planned to be discussed include changes Quantum computing will make to the non-quantum, general high performance computing (HPC) community, and why a disparate collection of large corporations is investing huge sums of money into a product which, as yet, has delivered no return. Also included will be a description of competing hardware and a simple, hands-on quantum programming exercise to be run on a quantum computer emulator.

IU Women in IT – Candid Conversations for Caregivers

Join us for a virtual, informal, and candid discussion about caregiving. Whether you care for someone who is elderly, disabled, a relative, a child, a spouse, or any other loved one, IUWIT recognizes that being a caregiver can be extremely stressful. In this virtual setting, we invite you to vent, share resources and experiences, and find support from other caregivers. All sessions are open to anyone of any gender. Registration required.

The 2024 Statewide IT Conference, April 23–24 with workshops and training on April 22, is IU’s annual gathering of its tech staff members and IT thought leaders from all nine campuses. With the overarching theme “Innovate, Adapt, Defend,” the conference is set to redefine the future of higher education in a rapidly changing world. We look forward to seeing our IU IT colleagues from around the state converge on Bloomington to exchange information about exploring new frontiers, adapting to evolving needs, and defending our resources against cyber threats.

CompTIA is launching a new data management certification, CompTIA DataSys+. It sets a unified standard of skills for the successful management and securing of data assets. It covers what database administrators need to deploy, manage, and maintain high-availability systems, including employing the fundamentals of scripting and programming in a relational database environment while using security and business continuity best-practices.
