Colleagues:
As many of you are aware, we started the push of the OCS client (the open source inventory tool) to devices this morning. During that, some Mac clients received a notice saying that ‘Software from “Giles Dubois” added items that can run in the background.’
This notice is being generated by OCS being deployed and reflects the addition of legitimate software. “Giles Dubois” is the name of the author on the application’s digital signing certificate. The message should have been suppressed, but due to a timing issue that did not happen in all circumstances. The EMS team has made an adjustment that should prevent this from appearing moving forward for devices that receive the OCS client today (although due to policy timing, it may show up on some endpoints that have not yet processed the updated policy). However, it should not appear during the broader deployment planned for next week.
A direct communication is being sent to the Apple Management list internally.
