IT Professionals,
From July 11 to July 28, IU Networks will be moving all MAC registrations from MAS to our Clearpass Environment. This will be done in batches of buildings. The affected building contacts will receive direct communications two weeks, one week and one day in advance.
The current system of registration through mas.iu.edu will be deprecated. We will import all current MAC registrations from MAS to Clearpass the day prior to each migration batch, and current customers will not have to register again. Prior to our changes, please continue to register devices through mas.iu.edu. After the changes have been made, all new registrations will need to be completed on Clearpass, using the same process we use for PublicNet today.
In the event that a customer has been missed, opening a browser will direct them to a captive portal page where they can complete registration. This process should take effect within five minutes and return online access.
This change does not include or involve the following specialty wired networks: IUH, HSN, BMS, EITS.
If you have questions, refer to the KB page Register or manage a client’s device on ClearPass for MAC Auth or reach out to Campus Network Operations at noc@iupui.edu.

Subject: UITS Networks – Mac Authentication Changes
On July 11th starting at 10pm, IU Networks will be moving all mac registrations to our Clearpass Environment for the buildings listed below. The current system of registration through mas.iu.edu will be deprecated. We will move all current MAC registrations from MAS to Clearpass prior to any changes, and current users will not have to register again. After the changes have been made all new registrations will need to be completed on Clearpass, using the same process we use for PublicNet today.
- On each day of change our cutover windows will be 2 hours.
- Connected users should only experience a minute or two of downtime.
- Only regular building DHCP subnets will be affected.
- Specialty subnets such as BMS, IU Health, HSN, Legacy etc will not be affected.
- Existing DHCP reservations and static assignments will be registered prior to any changes
- PublicNet registration page will be updated to indicate the page is for all MAC registrations.
- All related KB articles will be updated to reflect these changes.
- Further reminder notifications will be sent again one week and one day before changes.
Please inform everyone that you feel may be impacted by these changes. We will be importing all mac registrations for each building the day prior to our cutovers so we can be as current as possible. Prior to our changes, please continue to register devices through mas.iu.edu.
