IT Professionals,
On Tuesday, June 27, the primary domain for the IU Bloomington web gateway will change from www.indiana.edu to bloomington.iu.edu as part of the Digital Strategy Initiative. IU Bloomington is the third campus gateway domain change of the initiative. The remaining campus gateway domains will change in the coming months.
Web requests for www.indiana.edu, including parameter strings and tracking codes, will be redirected to the same page on bloomington.iu.edu. Examples:
- “www.indiana.edu/academics” will redirect to “bloomington.iu.edu/academics”
- “www.indiana.edu/admissions/cost-finances.html” will redirect to “bloomington.iu.edu/ admissions/cost-finances.html”
We strongly encourage website owners and managers to update links pointing to the new URLs as soon as possible.
Email and web applications (e.g. Low Enrolled Classes and Class Schedule Management, Faculty Professional webpages, etc.) will not be affected. For now, this change will impact only the main campus website.
Visitors may experience slower load times and potential temporary 404 errors accessing the gateway on June 27, as the entire site will be republished from WCMS to Sitehost. Please report any issues, such as broken links, by submitting a ticket.
If you maintain content that is part of the IU Bloomington website, please note that it will be under a change freeze from 8am ET on June 21, 2023, to 8am ET June 30, 2023.
Reach out to the Digital Strategy Initiative team at dstrat@iu.edu with any questions about this component of IU’s strategy to streamline its 2,000+ websites.
