IT Professionals,
We have an update to the changes in mail forwarding associated with the migration from Cisco IronPorts to the Microsoft Exchange Online Protection. Starting July 1, 2023, all top level forwards (in MAS) to alumni addresses will expire in 1 year. This means that if an alumnus already has a forward in place from their student email address (e.g. username@iu.edu) to their alumni email address (username@alumni.iu.edu), that forward will be removed on June 30, 2024.
Alumni should notify their contacts who write to their old student addresses, to email directly to their alumni address instead. A direct mailing is being sent on June 20 to those with an existing Alumni forward in MAS.
For more information on alumni email inboxes, refer to the IU Alumni Association’s Alumni Resources: Alumni Email Account and to the KB page About IU Alumni Association email accounts.
For more information about the MAS forwarding changes, refer to the timeline in About the Cisco IronPort to Exchange Online Protection migration. For questions, please contact Tier 2 Support at sct2@iu.edu.

Subject: Changes to your Alumni forward
Changes are coming to the way IU forwards your mail
Hello <first name>,
Indiana University is changing the process of how they route university email. This will affect forwarding from top-level campus email addresses to the alumni domain (e.g., username@iu.edu forwards to username@alumni.iu.edu). As a user of the email service provided by the Alumni Association, your IU email forwarding will be affected.
Starting July 1, 2023, all IU top-level forwards to alumni addresses will expire in 1 year. This means that if you have a forward in place already, that forward will be removed on June 30, 2024.
Please use this time to communicate with people that still write you at your @iu.edu address or other IU email address to communicate with you using your @alumni.iu.edu address.
You’ll receive a reminder email in six months, and an additional reminder in eleven months about this change, but we recommend that you communicate with senders as soon as possible.
If you have immediate questions or concerns, contact your IT Pro or the UITS Support Center. Additional information about this change can be found at About IU Alumni Association email accounts.
Thanks,
The Mail Administration team at IU
