Here is a reminder that the remaining Spring EdCert courses are open for registration. Classes are taught by IU employees who are certified instructors by Microsoft and CompTIA. Classes meet 9am-4pm ET and are available online only.
Aimed at raising the technical skill set of the IU community, EdCert offers fixed pricing substantially below costs to the public sector. EdCert’s spring semester has courses from fundamental to intermediate levels from Microsoft and CompTIA:
Monday, March 6 – Friday, March 10, Windows Client (MD-100)

In this course, students will learn how to support and configure Windows desktops in an organizational environment. Students will develop skills that include learning how to install, customize, and update Windows 10 and later operating systems. Students will learn how to manage storage, files, and devices as well as how to configure network connectivity for Windows. Students will also learn how to secure the Windows OS and protect the data on the device. Finally, students will learn how to manage and troubleshoot Windows clients. This course assists in preparation for the Microsoft Windows Client MD-100 exam.

This course builds on the knowledge and professional experience with computer hardware, operating systems and network devices as you gain basic security skills to implement security services on any type of computer network. Emphasizes both the practical and hands-on ability to identify and address security threats, attacks and vulnerabilities. Security+ focuses on the latest trends and techniques in risk management, risk mitigation, threat management and intrusion detection. Content includes security concepts, tools, and procedures to react to security incidents, as well as anticipating security risks and guarding against them. Assists in the preparation for the CompTIA Security+ SY0-601 certification exam.

CompTIA Data+ is an early-career data analytics certification for professionals tasked with developing and promoting data-driven business decision-making. As the importance for data analytics grows, more job roles are required to set context and better communicate vital business intelligence. Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on data can drive priorities and lead business decision-making. CompTIA Data+ builds skills required to facilitate data-driven business decisions, including mining data, manipulating data, visualizing and reporting data, applying basic statistical methods, and analyzing complex datasets while adhering to governance and quality standards throughout the entire data life cycle. Assists in preparation for the CompTIA Data+ DA0-001 exam.

CompTIA Linux+ builds on your existing experience with systems operations and administration to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to configure, manage, operate, and troubleshoot a Linux environment by using security best practices, scripting, and automation. CompTIA Linux+ covers common tasks in major distributions of Linux, including the Linux command line, basic maintenance, installing and configuring workstations, and networking. This course assists in the preparation for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam (XK0-004).
Monday, May 8 – Friday, May 11, Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure (Exam AZ-800)

This course prepares candidates for the administration of core Windows Server workloads using on-premises, hybrid, and cloud technologies. The course covers implementing and managing on-premises and hybrid solutions, such as identity, management, compute, networking, and storage. It also covers the use of administrative tools and technologies, such as Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, Azure Arc, and IaaS virtual machine administration. This course assists in the preparation for the Microsoft exam AZ-800.

CompTIA PenTest+ is designed for IT professionals who want to develop penetration testing skills to enable them to identify information-system vulnerabilities and effective remediation techniques for those vulnerabilities. Introduces general concepts and methodologies related to penetration testing as you work your way through a simulated pen test for a fictitious company. The course addresses skills to plan and scope a testing engagement including vulnerability scanning, understand legal and compliance requirements, analyze results, and effectively report and communicate practical remediation techniques for action to properly protect information systems and their content. This course assists in the preparation for the CompTIA PenTest+ certification exam (PT0-002).

This course teaches IT Professionals how to manage their Azure subscriptions, secure identities, administer the infrastructure, configure virtual networking, connect Azure and on-premises sites, manage network traffic, implement storage solutions, create and scale virtual machines, implement web apps and containers, back up and share data, and monitor your solution. This course assists in the preparation for the Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ-104 certification exam.
Monday, June 26 – Friday, June 30, Managing Modern Desktops (MD-101)

In this course, students will learn how to plan and implement an operating system deployment strategy using modern deployment methods, as well as how to implement an update strategy. Topics include modern management and co-management strategies, how to incorporate Microsoft Intune into your organization, and methods for deployment and management of apps and browser-based applications. Students will also be introduced to the key concepts of security in modern management including authentication, identities, access, and compliance policies. Students will be introduced to technologies such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Information Protection and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint as well as how to leverage them to protect devices and data. This course assists in preparation for the Managing Modern Desktops MD-101 certification exam.
