IT Professionals,
On Thursday, February 16, the Contacts feature in Qualtrics at IU will be replaced with a new product called XM Directory Lite. This will have a different user interface and API, as detailed below.
Changes to the User Interface
- Contact lists, survey distributions, and mailing lists will be accessed in one location.
- There is an updated appearance, navigation, functionality, and accessibility when sending a survey distribution.
- Contact lists can be exported as a CSV or TSV file. XML and HTML exports will no longer be supported.
- It will no longer be possible to import contacts from a survey. There are two workarounds:
- Use Workflows to add a contact to a contact list after survey completion.
- Use Contact List Triggers in surveys.
Changes to the API
- A new set of endpoints will be available as part of this upgrade. The underlying API is intended to replace the existing Research Core Contacts API sometime in the future, but this has not been scheduled yet.
What should I do next?
- Those using the current Contacts API are encouraged to switch to the new endpoints. Otherwise, no action is needed, since pre-existing contacts will be accessible in the new directory.
What if I still have questions?
- Refer to Differences between Contacts and XM Directory Lite.
- Contact Qualtrics Support.
