IT Professionals,
After feedback from stakeholders, UITS is updating the first stage of the Skype for Business migration and only 1,000 accounts that do NOT have a number assigned will be moved on January 31. The remaining accounts from the previous impact list will be moved later, and we will communicate again once a date has been decided.
After accounts have been moved, those clients will be unable to log in to Skype. As a reminder, here are steps for IT Pros can take to help prepare for the upcoming migration:
- Please help us by making sure that Microsoft Teams is installed on all managed devices, and that clients are informed of how to install Teams on personal and mobile devices.
- Please help to reinforce to faculty and staff that we’d like ALL chat communications to be happening in Teams, not Skype. This will help preserve conversation history and prevent issues as clients or departments are moved.
- Clients can continue to chat and call each other regardless of which platform they’re both on, but extended features (video call, screen shares) will require the participants to be on the same platform.
If you have questions, please contact unicom@iu.edu.
