The schedule offers fundamental to intermediate level courses from Microsoft and CompTIA. Classes meet 9am-4pm ET, online only. Aimed at raising the technical skill set of the IU community, EdCert offers fixed pricing substantially below costs paid by the public sector.
Wednesday, January 18, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
$350
This course is suitable for IT personnel who are just beginning to work with Azure. This audience wants to learn about our offerings and get hands-on experience with the product. This course primarily uses the Azure portal and command line interface to create resources and does not require scripting skills. Students in this course will gain confidence to take other role-based courses and certifications, such as Azure Administrator. This course assists in preparation for the AZ-900 exam.
Friday, January 20, Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)

In this course, students will gain foundational knowledge of core data concepts and related Microsoft Azure data services. Topics include relational, non-relational, big data, analytics and cloud data services. Students will explore relational data concepts and relational database services in Azure. They will explore Azure storage for non-relational data and the fundamentals of Azure Cosmos DB. Students will learn about large-scale data warehousing, real-time analytics, and data visualization.

CompTIA Server+ builds on your existing professional experience as it provides you with the next tier of skills and concepts that you will use on the job when administering any type of network server, be it in data center or cloud environments. CompTIA Server+ covers the latest server technologies including virtualization, security and network-attached storage. Skills learned include server architecture, administration, storage, security, networking, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery. The course provides the primary knowledge and skills you will require preparing for any type of network server-related career and assists in preparation for the Server+ SK0-005 certification exam.

CompTIA Network+ covers the essential knowledge and skills for configuration, management, and troubleshooting of common wired and wireless network devices. Ensures IT professionals can design and implement functional networks, identify benefits and drawbacks of existing network configurations, configure/manage/maintain essential network devices, use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic and create resilient networks, and implement network security, standards, and protocols. Also included are emerging technologies such as unified communications, mobile, cloud, and virtualization technologies. This course assists in the preparation for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam (N10-008).

CompTIA A+ Core 1 is the first of two courses to prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification, which is the industry preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles. Beyond PC repair, candidates are better prepared to troubleshoot, and problem solve, and technicians will better understand a wide variety of issues ranging from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security. CompTIA A+ supports the ability to connect users to the data they need to do their jobs regardless of the devices in use. Core 1 covers mobile devices, networking technology, hardware, virtualization and cloud computing and network troubleshooting. Vendor-neutral and designed to assist in preparing for the CompTIA A+ Core 1 certification examination, 220-1101, one of two exams required for CompTIA A+ certification.

In this course, students will learn how to support and configure Windows desktops in an organizational environment. Students will develop skills that include learning how to install, customize, and update Windows 10 and later operating systems. Students will learn how to manage storage, files, and devices as well as how to configure network connectivity for Windows. Students will also learn how to secure the Windows OS and protect the data on the device. Finally, students will learn how to manage and troubleshoot Windows clients. This course assists in preparation for the Microsoft Windows Client MD-100 exam.

CompTIA Linux+ covers common tasks in major distributions of Linux, including the Linux command line, basic maintenance, installing and configuring workstations, and networking. This course assists in the preparation for the CompTIA Linux+ certification exam (XK0-004).
Monday, May 8 – Friday, May 11, Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure (Exam AZ-800)

This course prepares candidates for the administration of core Windows Server workloads using on-premises, hybrid, and cloud technologies. The course covers implementing and managing on-premises and hybrid solutions, such as identity, management, compute, networking, and storage. CompTIA PenTest+ is designed for IT professionals who want to develop penetration testing skills to enable them to identify information-system vulnerabilities and effective remediation techniques for those vulnerabilities. Monday, June 26 – Friday, June 30, Managing Modern Desktops (MD-101)

In this course, students will learn how to plan and implement an operating system deployment strategy using modern deployment methods, as well as how to implement an update strategy. Topics include modern management and co-management strategies, how to incorporate Microsoft Intune into your organization, and methods for deployment and management of apps and browser-based applications. Students will also be introduced to the key concepts of security in modern management including authentication, identities, access, and compliance policies. Students will be introduced to technologies such as Azure Active Directory, Azure Information Protection and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint as well as how to leverage them to protect devices and data. This course assists in preparation for the Managing Modern Desktops MD-101 certification exam.
