IT Professionals:
On August 11 at 8AM, roughly 9.5k accounts will be migrated to the modern authentication requirement for Exchange Online. Accounts in this group have a device that currently utilizes basic authentication and could be affected when migrated to the modern authentication requirement.
This migration group will include individual accounts and some group accounts. UITS contacted clients directly (emailing the account owners in the case of group accounts) with the message below. A list of migrating accounts can be found here: Modern Auth Migration

Greetings,
Microsoft is enhancing security measures for logging into Exchange Online. It’s possible that this change could affect your access to email on your mobile device(s) when this change occurs on Thursday, August 11 at 8am.
If you receive the notification, “Your email access has been blocked” do the following:
- For the built-in email app on iOS or Android, remove the email account profile in the email application, and then re-add the account profile on your device.
- For older mobile devices or third-party mail applications, you may need to configure a new mail application. Microsoft recommends using the Outlook app on iOS and Android for better integration with the Exchange Online environment.
Mail remains accessible via the web at mail.iu.edu.
If you have any other questions or issues, please contact your IT Pro or campus UITS Support Center.
Thank you,

Greetings,
You are listed as an owner for the following account(s) for which at least one device is accessing the accounts’ Exchange Online email using an older authentication method:
itco | itcp | account | other | uitsall | vpit
Microsoft is enhancing security measures for logging into Exchange Online. It’s possible that this change could prevent you (or someone who uses email on one or more of these group accounts) from accessing the Exchange Online email account when this change occurs on Thursday, August 11 at 8am.
To reduce the chance of losing access, people accessing Exchange Online on one or more of the above accounts should do the following:
- For the built-in email app on iOS or Android, remove the email account profile in the email application, and then re-add the account profile on your device.
- For older mobile devices or third-party mail applications, you may need to configure a new mail application. Microsoft recommends using the Outlook app on iOS and Android for better integration with the Exchange Online environment.
These steps will reduce, but not eliminate, the chance that someone could lose access to the group account email on one or more of their devices. The age of their device, operating system, and mail app they use can still cause compatibility issues with the Microsoft enhancements. Mail remains accessible via the web at mail.iu.edu.
If you have any other questions or issues, please contact your IT Pro or campus UITS Support Center.
Thank you,
